Mental Health Awareness Week (18-24 May)

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health and mental health problems and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all.
Your mental health is more important than ever, which is why we’ve pulled together information, support and activities for managing your own health and wellbeing
We’ve also pulled together a range of Self Help Resources to help you to focus on maintaining your recovery progress and deal more effectively with any setbacks.
Now more than ever we need to re-discover our connection to kindness and each other in our daily lives. This year Mental Health Awareness Week will be used to celebrate the many thousands of acts of kindness that are so central to the quality of our mental health.
The Mental Health Foundation, the charity that has set the theme and hosted the Week for the last 20 years, also want to start a discussion about the kind of society we want to shape as we emerge from this pandemic.
Join in online
We want to get the nation talking about kindness and mental health. By joining us online, you can even reach people from around the world.
During Mental Health Awareness Week, we are asking you to do three things:
- Reflect on an act of kindness. Share your stories and pictures (with permission) of kindness during the week using #KindnessMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and #TogetherGMMH
- Use the Mental Health Foundation’s resources in your family, school, workplace and community to join with thousands in practising acts of kindness to yourself and others during the week
- Share your ideas on how you think we could build a kinder society that would support our mental health using #KindnessMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and #TogetherGMMH
You can tag us across social media – we would love to see what you get up to:
Facebook: @GMMentalHealth and @mentalhealthfoundation
Twitter: @GMMH_NHS and @mentalhealth
Instagram: @GMMH_NHS and @mentalhealthfoundation
No act of kindness is ever wasted. Please join us this Mental Health Awareness Week and make kindness matter.
Join the Mental Health Foundation’s movement challenge during May
The Mental Health Foundation is launching a brand new challenge this May, to get you moving and feeling good. The challenge is all about being kind to yourself by taking some time out each day to get moving and feeling good,
The challenge is to be active for 30 minutes a day, which may include running, walking and cycling, but this does not have to be strenuous – you can do the gardening or get those arm muscles moving by baking a cake. Whatever your physical ability, this challenge is for everyone.
If you sign up for the new ‘Take Action, Get Active’ challenge, you'll receive a free fundraising pack, which includes a personalised workout calendar!
As ever we invite you to join in any way you see fit. Please promote the theme of kindness or use the week to discuss other issues relating to mental health.
