Rivington Unit

The Rivington unit is the base for outpatient appointments for the Early Intervention and Crisis Resolution Teams. We are also the home of referral management for the Consultant led outpatient clinics, in Bolton, which include dementia and complex care, psychiatry of substance misuse and learning disability.

Referrals are received into our service from a variety of sources including GPs, community teams and ward discharges. These are reviewed, allocated to the appropriate service and the patient is then contacted to offer a choice of an appointment date that is mutually acceptable. Each team is allocated a weekly schedule for clinic appointments which allow most people the scope to choose a convenient time to attend around their current commitments. Often patients prefer to bring somebody along to their appointment for support.

Once a service user arrives for their appointment, the Reception team ensures all their details are correctly recorded and update them wherever necessary. There may be several clinics running in conjunction with each other so do not worry if somebody appears to be jumping the queue!

The staff in Reception help with any queries that arise during your visit. If we can’t help you ourselves we will point you in the right direction.

The Rivington unit is also the location of our mental health inpatient wards and clinics which include:
