| Caring for someone with Dementia ‘Coping Carers Group’ |
The group aims to support people with the emotional difficulties associated with their caring role - such as stress, anxiety and depression. Open to those currently caring for someone with dementia or who have recently cared for someone living with dementia and are experiencing stress, anxiety or low mood. The group is an 8-week programme based on a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy approach and runs three times a year. |
Referral to the group needs to be made by a health care professional, so please speak to Salford Older Adult Primary Care Psychological Therapies staff or your GP who will need to complete the service’s referral form. The group is open to Salford residents. The service can only accept referrals for carers outside Salford area if they are registered with a Salford GP. |
| Dementia Café | As part of the open doors project, there is a Dementia Café held every other Tuesday 1pm – 3pm at Woodlands Hospital. All relatives of patients are informed about this and it is also open to carers in the community. There is also a carer drop-in at Woodlands. | Salford Carers Centre |
Salford Carers Centre provides a comprehensive carer support service to carers of all ages; the service can offer advocacy, information and advice, support with how to cope as a carer and what is available to help you and the person you care for. The service has specialist mental health carer support workers as well as services for adult carers, young adult carers and young carers. The service is open Monday to Friday: 9.00 – 4.30 but can offer appointments for carers outside of these hours if needed. A weekly Carers Breakfast runs from the Cornerstone on Thursdays, 9:30am – 11:30am. Carers are welcome to come along, speak to one of our team, and enjoy a free light breakfast.
