New Park House Development Executive Summary
New Park House Development Executive Summary
HM Treasury approved (11/11/21) our Full Business Case (FBC) and released a capital investment of £105.9 million to replace the existing Park House mental health inpatient unit at the North Manchester General Hospital site with a new purpose-built, state-of-the-art building.
The Executive Summary sets out how the new building will greatly improve patient experience, with spacious single bedrooms each with private en-suite bathrooms, a variety of indoor activity areas, and multiple outside garden spaces. It outlines how the new development will enable specialist inpatient care to be provided more effectively within a safe and pleasant environment for patients, carers, visitors and staff.
Work to clear the site has already begun and demolition is underway. The new unit anticipated to be built and operational by 2024. Follow the construction progress here.

Art Engagement Sessions
Silver Lining Project
Our ‘Silver Lining’ project worked with service users, people with lived experience and mental health community groups to gain valued feedback to influence original artworks for ‘North View’ - our new adult mental health inpatient unit to replace Park House on the North Manchester General Hospital site.
This creative engagement work has continually driven home key factors about supportive and relevant artworks for patient wellbeing. From July to November 2022 our team has delivered over 100 creative sessions working with a variety of artistic media exploring the popular prevailing theme of nature and the outdoors.
Our sessions have highlighted the need for artworks to connect to all the senses, to life and colour. The artworks on display are a selection from these wonderful insightful sessions. Thank you to Lucentia Design for facilitating these sessions.
Engagement Sessions with the Recovery Academy and Recovery Pathways
On the 9 and 12 April 2021 we held a series of creative engagement sessions with staff, patients, Recovery Academy students and Recovery Pathways patients and staff to develop the look and feel of the new adult mental health inpatient unit to replace Park House. Thank you to all who took part, and a huge thank you to Lucentia Design for hosting them. Here are some of the mood boards created!
